Student Exchange Programme with United States Community College Initiative Programme (CCIP)

International Activities at Pondicherry University Community College

Our II year degree students have been participating in the Community College Initiative Program (CCIP) being sponsored by the Bureau of education and cultural affairs of the United States Department of State since 2012.

Purpose of CCIP:

It provides participants with opportunities to expand on their academic skills in specific fields of study, experience US culture & share their culture with U.S Community.

Selection Process:

On invitation from the US Consulate General, Chennai - the eligible students (having compulsory work experience) are required to submit their application forms for the CCIP- Community College Initiative Program. The initial screening test is a telephonic / personal interview. The shortlisted students are required to undertake Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) exam at US consulate General, Chennai. The shortlisted students are required to undergo a medical examination and the participants for the CCIP are announced by the US Consulate General.

Award of Certificate:

On successful completion of the CCIP the participant will receive certificate of completion from IREX – International Research & Exchange Board & from the Bureau of education and cultural affairs of the United States Department of State.

Financial Aid:

The selected student is eligible for the following provisions of the grant:

  • J-1 visa support
  • Round Trip coach class travel from participants home city to host institution in the United States
  • Health Benefits
  • Tuition and mandatory University Fees (including books and supplies)
  • Room & Board (housing and meals) and
  • Settling in allowance
